-- of HIMMELFANS

Greg and I are a couple of government employees in Des Moines, IA. Greg is the manager of several federal buildings and I am involved in cancer data collection & research for the State of Iowa.

We were first exposed to Peter's music in 1991 on a now-defunct radio station here in Des Moines, KFMG. I sought out the CD "From Strength To Strength" since I liked the song "Women with the Strength of 10,000 Men" that was being played on the radio. I was hooked on Peter's music from the start. It took Greg several months of me playing the CD until it also grabbed him. The song "Measure" from that CD became one of our theme songs and was played at our wedding.

We first saw Peter and the band in concert in 1994 in Ames, Iowa during the Skin tour and had the chance to visit with Peter before and after the show, since it was a small crowd. We fell in love with his humor, laid-back style, and audience participation at his shows. Since then, we've taken many road trips to see Peter play in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Kansas City. We've also had the opportunity to visit with Peter a few times during our trips.

Greg was one of several people who first created a Himmelman Music Message Board several years ago on AOL, and from there, a small group of followers created a Peter Himmelman chat room. We got to know Pamm and Ellen thru the message board and chat room, which ultimately led to the four of us joining forces to create "Himmelfans." Since then, Greg has been very busy with managing all the fan communications through the website and continues to keep us in contact with Pamm and Ellen regarding various aspects of the Himmelfans organization and website. It's been interesting and fun to become acquainted with other people across the country that love Peter and his music as much as we do!! -- Judy
